The Deacon

(A Poem - winning entry to a Goodreads' group weekly poetry contest)

The week's topic was "Altar Ego".  No, it wasn't a typo error. It's a play on words and it is up to the participants how to interpret and render it in a poem.  Here's what I have come up with and it won! :)

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Here goes...

The Deacon

A sworn servant of the Lord
Praising and serving in God’s name
Reading, preaching His word
An inculpable man with no blame

Don't Forget to Remember...

In a fast-paced world and age like ours, we tend to forget too many things. We forget some errands, some things to do, dates, birthdays and other occasions.  We forget other people’s names, even their faces sometimes. We forget even family and friends… even those very close and dear to us. Or those who think they are as dear to us as we are to them.  People who have been with us in many difficult times of our lives. People who have helped us, supported us. People who took care of us, or were there to help our parents raise us.

Dahil Ako ay Isang Blogger Lamang (Because I'm Just a Blogger)

(A Poem for Senator Tito Sotto)

I've already posted this in my other blog...my apologies for the double post. But I really want to spread my sentiments about this sanctimonious arrogant senator.

This is a poem I've written as an open letter to Philippine Senator Tito Sotto, who belittled bloggers in general. As a blogger/writer, I feel strongly about plagiarism. More than that, I feel strongly about denigrating any occupation. It doesn't really matter if it is a blogger, a published or self-published writer... At least, we are writing the piece ourselves.

But this self-righteous arrogant senator, when discovered that his staff copy-pasted paragraphs from several bloggers for his speech, still had the nerve to say,
“Bakit ko iku-quote yung blogger? Blogger lang yun!” (Why should I quote the blogger? She’s just a blogger!)

So here’s a piece of my mind, as a blogger… Pardon me, I had to write it in my mother tongue because the issue is very close to my heart.

Interview with the Vampire: Claudia’s Story

I simply must share this... Anne Rice is one of my favorite writers and she's my guru when it comes to witch and vampire lore.
